Welcome to the second issue of Subatomic, The Atomic Family's new electronic zine! After many delays, technical difficulties,
and other assorted bullshuit, we finally made it! After last issue's call for contributors, there was an amazing amount of
interest...so much so, that we actually had to cut a few things and save some for next issue. So thank you to everyone who
helped with this issue! We want Subatomic to be an outlet for both Atomic Family bands and
all of our friends -- art, music, writing, you name it. So please, get involved! Send us your stuff! We're looking forward to making a dent in the Pittsburgh scene with all of you.
We have a great issue lined up this month, featuring a brand new FREE downloadable record from Pittsburgh's own Maxipads and a free
compilation of Atomic Family bands and friends! There's an interview with punk rock legend Joe Jack Talcum of The Low
Budgets (and previously of The Dead Milkmen, of course) and articles on how to score a free bike and how you're ruining America by doing
so (or so CNN says). In Love/Hate, find out how great a certain well-known Pittsburgh punk band's new record is and what a talentless hack
a certain actress-turned-singer is! We also have some great reader-contributed poetry and show reviews in our new section, Junkmail.
Enjoy! Here's what's going on with our family right now:
28 Whores (featuring members of The Fitt and The Smut Project) are recording a new album due to be released as The Atomic Family’s first cassette in a few months. It is heavy rock to snap your neck to.
On Vinyl is back and will be playing select shows including upcoming shows with The Lost Sea and The Will Kills
The Maxipads have released their new record “Sweatpants Hookers” for free in our second ezine.
Whiskey Smile! Will start work on their newest record this month. This one will be a solo release from Gabe and his trusty guitar.
The Lost Sea are going to be hitting the studio soon to record their first album together. Once finished the album will be available for purchase through our merch section. Keep Checkin’ back.
Eskimoses is on a small break due to Drummer/Singer, Chuck, having a baby boy. Hi Kellen!
Northern Aggression will be doing some shows with Mischief Brew in the VA area next month. Organize a carpool to these epic shows!
Bridgley Moore has broken up. It’s true and sad. The cool music they did make, however, is still available in our merch section.
Work has started on part #2 of Wormrigg’s pioneering idea of putting out 3 releases in a year’s span as a subscription.
Unarmed has a new drummer, new songs and plans for touring. They’ll be hitting the road with Hipster Death Machine in June.
